All-Star Line-up at the 2011 Miami Beach Gay Pride

In addition to this year’s Grand Marshal, Bravo TV’sAndy Cohen, the parade will feature numerous celebrities and VIPs riding in more than 60 floats or marching alongside in solidarity.  Continuing her long-standing support of the LGBT community, DJ Tracy Young will be a special guest in the parade fresh off her recent guest appearance on “The Real Housewives of Miami.”  Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower and several of the city’s commissioners and staff will ride atop a specially designed float and many of the entries in the parade will echo this year’s “Super Hero” theme of empowerment.

Another highlight of Pride will be a salute to “Legacy Couples” – committed LGBT partners who have been together for 20 or more years who will march and ride together in recognition of their commitment and in affirmation of marriage equality.

Following the parade, the Pride Festival will feature refreshments, booths and two entertainment stages.  Performers will include Dominican singer/songwriter Sohanny, performing her urban merengue dance hit “No Es Normal,” and multi-talented hit-maker JayQuan whose R&B/Pop/Latin vocals are a standout in the group Nas-T-Boyz.  Also performing at the Festival will be Erika Jayne , Ceevox,  Miss Richfield 1981, Marlon Alarm and the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus.

In her new show, “30 Years On The Throne!,” Miss Richfield 1981 looks back at her storybook life celebrating three decades of beauty sovereignty as reigning queen of Richfield, Minnesota, “where butter is a spice and gravy is a beverage.” This Midwestern maven is winning over theater and cabaret audiences around the country with an interactive format that combines homespun warmth and edgy improv in a truly original performance.  Miss Richfield will grace the stage of the Colony Theater on Friday, April 15.

Also on Friday, a VIP fundraiser celebrating the kickoff of Pride — “Miami Beach Gay Pride Super Hero Soiree” — takes place at the W South Beach beginning at 9 p.m.  Super surprises and special guest heroes will include fashion designer Christopher Bates, special guest DJ Scotty Thompson and special appearances by Grand Marshal Andy Cohen, DJ Tracy Young, and cast members from the reality show “Real Housewives of Miami.”  Tickets are $125 by clicking on the “Buy Your Tickets” button and entering “VIP Superhero Soiree” in the “Purpose” box. All proceeds will benefit Miami Beach Gay Pride.

On Saturday, Palace Restaurant/Bar at 1200 Ocean Drive presents “Brunchic,” where patrons may enjoy a prix-fixe brunch menu and a bottle of champagne, with ideal viewing of the parade.  Prices are $65 and $85, plus tax & tip, with seatings beginning at 10:30 am.  Call 305-531-7234 for reservations.  Among other Palace Pride events is the Latin Stage from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., featuring Grammy Award winner Elvis Crespo, and video/Mashup Latin Music DJ Set by DJ/Producer Maximus 3000.

EVENTS: India, Patti Labelle, Ceevox & DJ Maximus 3000 headline First Miami Beach Gay Pride

Miami Based DJ/Producer/Remixer , Record Label Owner and Experimental Artist DJ Maximus 3000 to Headline the inaugural Miami Beach Gay Pride Celebration as the Official DJ Alongside International Recording Artists and Celebrities Patti Labelle, India, Ceevox and Many More on Ocean Drive April 18, 2009.

For Immediate Release:
(Miami , FL) April 10, 2009 – 2009 is gearing up to be the year of change in more ways than one. With the first African American president elect in office, an undeniable air of unity and sense of community permeates throughout the country. In an even more over due precedent just 5 short months ago (November 2009), the City of Miami Beach commissioners “OK’d” the use of flying gay pride flags in gay owned and gay friendly establishments in Miami Beach, one of the country’s largest GLBT populated cities.

In a Historic and monumental decision ,The city of Miami Beach, The Most famous sandbar in the world, will join the ranks of world class cities like Sao Paulo, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Madrid that officially Honor the gay & Lesbian Community by hosting it’s first city Supported pride Event April 18, 2009, Thanks to Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower.

Bower States, “It is hard to believe a city as diverse and as inclusive of the GLBT community as our city has not had an official Miami Beach Gay Pride in the past”. She adds, “I am very Proud to be a part of such a historical event in our community and will make every effort to ensure that Miami Beach Gay Pride 2009 will be a success.”

In the spirit of inclusiveness and community it is no less monumental that DJ Maximus 3000, has been chosen to provide the Main stages “T-Dance” musical selections as the one and only official DJ. Heralded as a Crowd pleaser amongst His fan base; DJ Maximus 3000 is known for  playing a barrage of “mashups” and “open Format” beats from Dance, Rock, Pop and more, with ease, alongside his signature nostalgic Electro-house Sets ( A very groundbreaking move for a Gay Pride celebration when the main stage is usually reserved for the well-established Circuit DJ).

The Theme of this years Miami Beach Gay Pride Celebration is to “Come show your pride side”, a testament that the GLBT Community comes from all walks of Life, now more prevalent than ever.
