GARTEL: ART BASEL MIAMI event at Bang & Olufsen
GARTEL’s ART BASEL MIAMI 2011 partnership with Bang & Olufsen, a Danish-founded audio-visual company, led to fantastic original works inspired by the creative interaction of sight and sound. In the 1920s, Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen were technological pioneers in sound recording and signal transmission, much like GARTEL followed as a 1970s pioneer of the digital era of art.
B&O products are known for distinctive design, compared to mainstream rivals, because they hire independent designers rather than employ them in the company. GARTEL is still “making waves,” partnering for a unique Art Basel multimedia exhibition ” CYMATICS” that continues for the rest of this season, making good use of B&O’s supersized 3-D screens.
Laurence will also unveil the GARTEL Rolls Royce “Themed 1989” Spirit. at the V.I.P. opening vernissage at
Bang & Olufsen, 1691 Michigan Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida, Friday, December 2nd, 2011. 7PM-11PM.

This year Laurence Gartel’s Art Basel Miami 2011 presentation “Cymatics” takes place at Bang & Olufsen Miami Beach Showroom. The exhibit, which extends through March 3rd, 2012, includes fantastic original works inspired by the creative interaction of sight and sound. In the 1920s, Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen were technological pioneers in sound recording and signal transmission. Gartel followed as a 1970s multimedia pioneer of the Digital Art era.Be a part of the unveiling of Bang & Olufsen’s new Beovision 4-103inch, 3-D High Definition, Plasma Television, valued at $130,000.00. Imagine feeling totally absorbed and a part of the action in your favorite 3D film. Bang & Olufsen will take you there with their new 3D technology.
In addition to the video/animation, time based work, the impresario of Digital Media will have additional surprises; with the unveiling of his latest Rolls Royce “1989 Themed” Spirit art car. Art historian Pierre Restany once declared Gartel a “Fabulist,” in his Introduction to the Italian monograph, “Gartel: Arte e Tecnologia.” Mr Gartel will once again live up to that title. Coming off hosting the Star Gala and creating the official artwork for the event honoring John Secada the show should prove to be another stellar star event. Artist website: gartelmuseum.weebly.com
Be part of The V.I.P. Red Carpet event where Lucky Strike will be serving passed hor d’oeuvres, Zacappa will be sharing their elixser from the gods and Russian Standard beauties will be passing their tempting libations. This event will be filmed and simulcast to the Intl Art Convention of Rome, Italy.
NEWSFLASH: DJ/Producer Maximus 3000’s Final Performance @ Living Room Nightclub 11.11.11.
In June of 2008 I was introduced to Mark Lowe & Christian Leonard by my dear friend Elon Ka.
Plans for a revolutionary and visionary nightclub never seen before in South Florida were in the works, and a top secret space was being transformed behind the scenes.
As Teaser ads circulated all over South Florida Media outlets a few months later, speculation on how the brand new nightclub would fare in downtown Fort Lauderdale, a space that had become almost vacant and rarely frequented. Rumors and catcalls swirled throughout the club chatrooms and forums claiming that the club would not last 3 months.
Alot of the nightlife scene had become stagnant in South Florida for both the GLBT/Alternative community as well as the Mainstream markets. People were bored, and were looking for something new.
In September 2008 our Grand opening day was announced: October 17, 2008.
As I geared up for what would promise to be one my most prolific and high profile residencies of my career, the buzz surrounding LIVING ROOM NIGHTCLUB was extraordinary. Our Grand opening Night Broke all expectations and Thousands of eager and curious nightclub aficionados rushed the space for what would be the beginning of an evolution in nightlife like South Florida had never seen.
I can not describe the feeling when we opened our doors and Thousands of people rushed in to see the Gorgeous high art moodscape based space that can only be described as an organic living breathing work of art , The Brainchild of Mark Lowe who up to that point had an amazing carreer as an industrial designer and architect. LIVING ROOM NIGHTCLUB faced all odds and delivered. An unstoppable force , we contined to change the scope and raise the bar on a weekly basis, breaking ground over and over again and setting a new standard on what nightclub goers should expect along with an unprecedented level of customer service, top notch entertainment and mindblowing themes.
For 3 years I have held my residency and experienced what a REAL party was all about, Ive met thousands of people, rubbed elbows with a plethora of celebrities and have a bevy of cherished memories that I will take with me for the rest of my days.
I want to thank everyone for their loyalty, support, and patronage on this journey. To all the staff Members, peers, bartenders, barbacks, security, Door personnel, my divas, our VIP hosts, Fellow DJs, Live Singers, promoters and everyone who has ever had a role in making LIVING ROOM NIGHTCLUB the number 1 nightclub in South Florida. Thank you.
A Special Thank you to Elon and Mark for allowing me to grow creatively and to show the world what I was capable of and growing artistically every step of the way. I invite everyone to come out tonight 11-11-11. 11:11:11 to Toast to 3 years of stellar entertainment and memories.
One Door to a LIVING ROOM May Close, but a gateway to an entire HOUSE awaits….More info coming soon!
Sincerely,
Alex Ferbeyre pka

FIRST-EVER “CELEBRATE ORGULLO®” TO SHOWCASE LGBT HISPANIC PRIDE
DURING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 ON MIAMI BEACH
On Saturday, October 1, the first-ever “Celebrate Orgullo®” event will take place in Lummus Park on Miami Beach. “Orgullo” is Spanish for “Pride,” and this event celebrates the diverse cultural heritage and contributions of South Florida’s LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Hispanic community
The event, taking place from noon until 6 pm at Lummus Park, between 10th and 11th Streets Miami Beach, will feature musical performances, folkloric dance, celebrity guests, drag performers, refreshments and vendor booths representing the both the non-profit and business community.
Since 1988, Americans have observed Hispanic Heritage Month – September 15 to October 15 – celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of those whose ancestors came from Central and South America, Spain, Mexico or the Caribbean. With Hispanics in Miami-Dade County comprising 65% of the total population, (2010 U.S. Census), Hispanic Heritage Month is widely popular in South Florida, with a myriad of events taking place throughout the month long celebration. As evidenced by the more than 40,000 people who turned out for Miami Beach Gay Pride this past April, there are a significant amount of LGBT and LGBT-friendly supporters in South Florida, and many are Hispanic.
Coincidentally, the theme for Hispanic Heritage Month 2011 is: “Heritage, Diversity, Integrity and Honor: The Renewed Hope of America,” therefore it is especially timely that the first Celebrate Orgullo® will truly celebrate the diversity of our community.
Celebrate Orgullo® is a grassroots effort, conceived and implemented by a group of volunteers who decided that it was time for Miami Beach to lead the way in honoring the cultural contributions of the LGBT Hispanic community. The committee unanimously voted to name the city’s mayor, Matti Herrera-Bower, as “Honorary Orgullo Queen” to recognize her support throughout the years.
There are several opportunities for companies and organizations to become involved and reach out to a lucrative market at Celebrate Orgullo®. Sponsorships range from $500 to $15,000, and a limited number of booths are available at $250 per space, or $150 for a non-profit organization. Complete details are available at http://www.CelebrateOrgullo.com or call Jorge Richa, (305) 673-4440, or email Jorge@celebrateorgullo.com.
The event is free and open to the public, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of food and beverages will benefit the LGBT Youth Scholarship Fund of Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc.
Members of the Executive Committee are Ivan Cano, Jorge Richa, Herb Sosa, Laura Veitia and Darvin Wlliams. On the Planning Committee are Lynn Bove, Luis Gonzalez, Joe Granda, Yubi Herrera, Scott Holland, Josue Kant, Sharon Kersten, Josue Santiago, Luiz Rodrigues Soraya Swingen, Peter Tapia and Hernan Valverde.
Media Partners to date, who are donating advertising and promotion to Celebrate Orgullo® are AMBIENTE Magazine, Florida Agenda, Hot Spots!, GENRE Latino, Mark, Mark’s List, Miami Gay Blog, She Magazine, South Florida Gay News and WIRE Weekly
Community Partners/Sponsors, committed to providing support through donations of product, community outreach and/or financial support, are Brown-Forman, Bud Light, City of Miami Beach, City of Miami Beach GLBT Business Enhancement Committee, Chambord Vodka, ECOMB, Granda Entertainment, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Hotflyers.com, Ikandee Productions, Inferno Puerto Rico, Kersten Communications, Leblon, Miami Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, MDGLCC Foundation, Inc.” Miami Reconnect, Noche Latina Florida, Palace Restaurant & Bar, South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,Tequila Herradura, Unity Coalition|Coalicion Unida and Worldwide Travel Partners.
Celebrate Orgullo® takes place on Saturday, October 1 from noon until 6 pm at Lummus Park, on the sand between 10th and 11th Streets in Miami Beach. For further information, visit www.celebrateorgullo.com

ABOUT NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover the 30-day period from September 15 through October 15.
The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively.”

NEWSFLASH: DJ/Producer Maximus 3000 Headlines Wilton Manor’s Stonewall Street Festival and Parade June 18, 2011.
DJ/Producer Maximus 3000 Headlines Wilton Manor’s Stonewall Street Festival and Parade June 18, 2011.
DJ Maximus 3000 continues to carve a notch as a mainstay of entertainment for major South Florida events.
For Immediate Release – Miami, FL June 13, 2011. Miami Based DJ/Producer and Record label owner (8025 Alliance Music Group) DJ Maximus 3000 Continues to rise to the top as a formidable and versatile entertainer by Joining “Stone wall Street Festival & Parade” in Wilton Manors , Sunday June 18, 2011.
One of summer’s most anticipated events in South Florida, Stonewall Street Festival and Parade, is coming up.
Stonewall will be bigger than ever since the festival will stretch from 5 Points to NE 20th Street on Wilton Drive with multiple stages filled with entertainment; exhibits from sponsors, merchants, and area non-profits; demonstrations; games; street performers; and an exciting assortment of gourmet food trucks, and beverage stations.
This year, the parade will take place at dusk instead of early morning, which should be great for those who are worried about the early morning heat. It will include celebrities, floats, costumes, equality couples (long-term same sex couples), groups and travel to NE 20th Street where the culmination of the day’s events will be a Pride Dance.
The hosts this year will provide constant entertainment and include Doria Biddle, producer and co-host, who has written for MTV, the animated series Rugrats and Recess, and has offered her slyly funny commentary on various talking-head programs. She has also served as an editor at Teen Magazine, where she learned all about boys and makeup; Frank DeCaro, is a writer /performer and host of The Frank DeCaro Show every weekday on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. He is best known for his six-and-a-half-year stint as the flamboyant film critic on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and his pioneering gay memoir “A Boy Named Phyllis;” and Comic Keith Price, the first out African-American personality on satellite radio. As co-host and associate producer of the internationally popular Morning Jolt w/ Larry Flick, on SIRIUS XM Satellite’s OUT Q station, Keith shares his viewpoints and brand of humor on current events with the world, while also interviewing some of the most iconic and news making figures of pop culture and entertainment.
Scheduled to appear is popular Miami/Fort Lauderdale DJ/Producer Maximus 3000 who says “it’s a bit self indulgent but i’ve made it my mission to attend and participate in as many Pride festivals as I can and show my support for my community who is still struggling with equality every day. I believe I should share my talent and gift and use my voice to spread the word until we are all equal.”
No stranger to performing to mega crowds and festivals, Maximus 3000 has to power to move mountains with his diverse and unique high energy sets. Already having performed at several high profile festivals and mega pride events such as: Official DJ to The First Annual “Miami Beach Gay Pride” 2009 ( Miami Beach estimated 20k attendees) sharing the stage with mega performers such as La India, Patti Labelle and Ceevox and 2011 JUST this past April sharing the stage with International Salsa/Merengue sensation Elvis Crespo and more (to an estimated 40k attendees and broadcast worldwide to 50k more viewers), “Pridefest Fort Lauderdale” 2010 (Fort Lauderdale 15k Estimated attendees) “Tropical Heat” (Key west 2k attendees), Art Explosion 2009 Festival “Miami and Fort Lauderdale Dance Party” (Fort Lauderdale 2k attendees), “2009 Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Official Fort Lauderdale Dance Party” (Fort Lauderdale 1.5k attendees), as well as his weekly residency Living Room Nightclub Fort Lauderdale “Liquid Fridays” which has become a groundbreaking and trendsetting weekly gathering, where an average of 2500 – 3000 partygoers revel in the uplifting and vivacious beats provided by Maximus 3000, since 2008.
There will be several activities going on at the Stonewall Street Festival. Those with a competitive side will enjoy the Athletic Area, which will have a soak tank, various games of skill, and booths for the display and recruitments of various gay sports teams and leagues. There will also be a Family Fun Area for GLBT families, which may include a bounce house, slides, arts & crafts activities, storytellers, musicians, and magicians. In addition, local children’s organizations such as the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery & Science, Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre, Wannado City, Young At Art Children’s Museum, will be represented at Stonewall.
Many people say that the best part of a street festival is the food, and Stonewall plans to follow that theory. They will show the culinary excellence of Greater Fort Lauderdale, with a chef exhibition, gourmet food trucks, and festival food. In addition to each bar mixing and serving their own creations at their establishments, The Drive will house various bar stations with donated liquor/beer/water/juice. Each of these stations will be “manned” by staff from a local bar, and a décor competition will ensue with the winning establishment being “crowned” the 2011 Stonewall Street Festival Décor Queen for Best Bar Station.
Also Scheduled to appear: Noa Tylo, Dave Leddick, Eric Jaffe, Glamour Goddesses, Nikki Kidd, Not for Nothing, DJ Karin Ward, DJ Souz, Nicki Addams, Richard Cortez, Jubilee King Bee, Philip Alexander, Michael Waters & Dame Edna, Ball Fringe, Ray Boltz, DJ Paura.
With all of these exciting elements, the Stonewall Street Festival & Parade will surely be an event you won’t want to miss!

NEWSFLASH: ELVIS CRESPO TO PERFORM ON MIAMI BEACH GAY PRIDE LATIN STAGE with DJ SET BY DJ/PRODUCER MAXIMUS 3000
(Miami, FL) On Saturday, April 16, Grammy and Latin Grammy Award winner Elvis Crespo will perform songs from his latest release “Indestructible,” along with other classic hits on the Miami Beach Gay Pride Latin Stage presented by Palace, Granda Entertainment, and Ivan Cano.
The Latin Stage will feature performances from 1 to 7 pm and is one of several event highlights taking place at Palace over the Pride weekend. The Stage will be set up across from Palace, on Ocean Drive at 12th Street.
Elvis’ performance is a part of his national Indestructible Promotional Tour, which he has dedicated to the LGBT community. Throughout the tour, Elvis will be performing at some of the largest gay venues and Pr2ide events around the country, including Hollywood, CA (May 21st), Long Beach Pride, CA (May 22nd), and San Francisco Pride (June 26th).
“All Humans are created equal and should be entitled to the same inalienable rights, and among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, as stated in the Declaration of Independence of the United States,” says Elvis.
Crespo shot to the top of the Billboard charts with his feverish and horn-fueled mix of nonstop merengue, as best exemplified by the anthem “Suavemente,” which topped the charts on Billboard’s National Hot Latin Top 40 and resulted in multiple hits, including “Suavemente”, “Tu Sonrisa” and “Pintame.”
Since then, he has released multiple chart-topping albums and has received numerous accolades and awards. His unique style transcends genre, ethnicity, ideology and language, and is synonymous with rhythm, movement and a presence defined by his versatility.
Crespo will ride on the Palace float in the Pride parade – beginning at noon from 5th to 14th Street on Ocean Drive – and will greet his fans at Palace, 1200 Ocean Drive, from 4:30 ‘til 5:30 pm prior to his performance on the Latin Stage at 6 pm.
Joining Elvis Crespo and Wilson Cruz on the Latin Stage is Dominican singer/songwriter Sohanny, the gorgeous Latin sensation who sparked a major buzz with her new smash single “No Es Normal,” a true club anthem. Mexican pop singer Fedro will also take the stage that day to perform some of his hits.
Actor Wilson Cruz will grace the Latin Stage as MC, lending his humorous wit throughout the day. Cruz, who began acting at age 7, has appeared in numerous films and television series. His role on the TV series “My So-Called Life” mirrored his own experience as a teen who was kicked out of his house when he told his family that he was gay.
Spinning hot tunes on the Latin Stage is DJ Maximus 3000, who returns to Miami Beach Gay Pride after his wildly successful appearance on the main stage Pride in 2009, its inaugural year. “Im super excited to add yet another layer to my growing artistic repertoire. I will be diving deep into my latin roots this year by supporting not only “The Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida LEADERS, LEGENDS& LOVELIES© (LL&L) BALL” (Miami’s largest LGBT Latino Advocacy group and non-profit organization) as the official DJ, But also representing all Latin & Latin American cultures by playing a rare and never before heard set of Latin music all in my current signature mashup video performance style,, along with acapellas of Top 40, Rock, Hip Hop, and other pop music ….Think Lady Gaga over a salsa beat, Rihanna over Merengue and Reggaeton versions of many familiar tracks. AND of course ill be playing a scorching hot Classic Latin House Set” says Maximus.
All of the Latin Stage performances will be streamed live online at www.miamibeachgaypride.com
In presenting the Latin Stage, Palace, Granda Entertainment, and Ivan Cano are putting the spotlight on the ethnic diversity of the South Florida community, as well as the growing Hispanic demographic in the U.S. and the plethora of visitors from South and Central America.
“It was time to add a decidedly Latin flavor to Pride this year,” says Palace GM Ivan Cano, who spearheaded the concept. Cano also is a member of the City of Miami Beach GLBT Business Enhancement Committee.

NEWSFLASH: Bravo’s Andy Cohen To Lead Miami Beach Gay Pride Saturday, April 16, 2011
Andy Cohen, Bravo’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, will be the Grand Marshal of the 2011 Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade on Saturday, April 16.
Since Cohen took over the network’s current development and production slate of over two dozen shows, the network has become the home of gay viewers’ reality TV favorites, including hits such as the Emmy and James Beard award-winning “Top Chef,” “”Top Chef Masters,” “The Real Housewives” series, “Kathy Griffin My Life On the D List,” “The Millionaire Matchmaker,” “Million Dollar Listing,” “The Rachel Zoe Project,” “The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection,” “Bethenny Ever After,” “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover” and “Flipping Out.”
In addition, Cohen is the host and Executive Producer of “Watch What Happens,” Bravo’s late night, interactive, weekly talk show that features guests from the world of entertainment, politics and pop culture. The series includes lively debates on everything from fashion, the latest Housewives drama, to what celebrity is making headlines that week.
Asked in a recent interview whether Bravo has become a “gay network,” Cohen stated, “I’m always saying we’re bi, but I think it’s kind of how I view myself being gay — it’s just one of things that I am,” he said. “So Bravo may or may not be gay, but I think there’s a lot of other things going on. I think for the gay people on Bravo, it’s one of the things that they are — they’re not on Bravo because they’re gay. The people that are gay on Bravo, like Brad on Rachel Zoe or Jeff on ‘Flipping Out,’ they’re gay but they’re also great at what they do and that’s why they’re on Bravo, and that’s important.”
In February, Cohen teamed up with British rugby player Ben Cohen to film a video for the It Gets Better Project, offering a message about acceptance and celebrating differences. He talks about his progression from being a scared teenage boy through his awakening in college and to success as an adult.
Cohen started at Bravo in 2005 as Senior Vice President of Original Programming & Development and since then he has overseen an aggressive slate of unscripted series and specials including past hits “Project Runway,” “Queer Eye,” “Work Out,” “Being Bobby Brown,” “Top Design,” “Make Me a Supermodel,” “Blow Out” and “The A List Awards”.
Cohen received an Emmy Award when season six of “Top Chef” won the Outstanding Reality Competition Program at the 2010 primetime awards and has been nominated for nine additional Emmy Awards as Executive Producer of “Project Greenlight,” “Project Runway,” “Top Chef” and “Queer Eye.” In 2005, Cohen was awarded a Peabody Award for his role as Executive Producer of the TRIO documentary “The N Word” and another Peabody in 2008 as an Executive Producer of “Project Runway.” In 2010, TV Guide Magazine named Cohen one of the “25 Most Powerful People in Television” (along with Oprah Winfrey, Simon Cowell, Tina Fey, and Jon Stewart).
Born in St. Louis, Cohen is a graduate of Boston University where he received a B.A. degree in broadcast journalism.
Cohen will lead the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade beginning at noon on Saturday, April 16th at 5th Street and Ocean Drive. The parade continues along Ocean Drive, featuring festive floats and the inspiring LEGACY couples – couples who have been in committed relationships for 20 years or more.
Following the parade, the festivities continue at Lummus Park, between 10th Street and 14th Street, with exciting musical performances, a festival featuring LGBT-friendly vendors and businesses, refreshments and a family-friendly playzone.

NEWSFLASH: DJ/Producer Maximus 3000 selected to play GRANDA ENTERTAINMENT & JOE GRANDA TRIUMPHANT YEAR celebration
For Immediate release Feb 24, 2011 (Miami, FL) – On Tuesday, March 1st, from 8 p.m. to midnight, Joe Granda, CEO and Founder of Granda Entertainment will celebrate his birthday surrounded by his family, at South Beach’s newest and chicest boutique hotel, The Lords South Beach (1120 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139). Celebrities, fashionistas, industry execs, and music icons will come together at Cirque d’Granda to celebrate the birthday of Joe Granda and his many accomplishments in the industry. While guests imbibe complimentary 42BELOW vodka cocktails and nosh on hors d’oeuvres, DJ Maximus 3000 will be spinning a number of the tracks that have made many of Granda Entertainment’s artists so famous!
Throughout history we have seen the genre of music shift, change, and evolve to include a plethora of unique artists and acts; however, most artists are relegated to one specific market or sound. This year, Joe Granda, CEO and Founder of Granda Entertainment, will celebrate nearly 40+ years of successfully merging the Latino and Anglo markets within the entertainment industry, providing both markets with some of the biggest names in the world of Crossover Artists, including Shakira, Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, Gloria Estefan, Gloria Trevi, Nelly Furtado, among many, many more.
Granda, which has been part of the entertainment industry for 40+ years, began his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor for WLTV (now Univision) in a children’s variety program, “Cabalgata Infantil” as a magician and ventriloquist, and by the age of fifteen he formed the band, “Majesty” as lead vocalist, which he signed to Jaguar Records an Indie label from Miami headed by music moguls Carlos Garcia (President Miami Tape) and Tony Moreno, (President/CEO Musical Productions, one of the largest indie Latin labels in the world).
While working as a child star and musician, Granda quickly learned the importance of branding an artist, a strong marketing team, and, of course, event and concert production. Granda moved from the stage to behind the scenes, working closely with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry to put his respective artists at the top of the charts under the auspices of his new Indie record label, Angel Eyes Music, which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year!
While working with these artists on promotion, marketing, and concert and event production, Granda developed a successful formula to merge Latino based artists with the Anglo mainstream market, creating a new category of music, referred to by Billboard Magazine as “Crossover”. Oscar Llord formerly of the Sony Discos Label immediately recognized the importance of this crossover formula and implemented Granda’s marketing strategy to help artists, such as Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Shakira, Elvis Crespo, Son by Four, and many more, successfully break into the mainstream Anglo market.
Since beginning his career 40+ years ago to launching his Indie record label Angel Eyes Music 25 years ago to the development of Granda Entertainment 10 years ago, Granda has been at the forefront of just about every music movement, including Rock, Disco, Dance, Freestyle, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton, Electro, and beyond. His roster of artists, personalities, and celebrities reads like a who’s who of crossover and Latino artists.
Of course, Granda’s involvement in events like Viva La Musica at SeaWorld and Busch Gardens, the Latin Music Panel & Showcase during Winter Music Conference, Miami Dance Awards, Miami Beach Gay Pride, Long Beach Pride, San Francisco Pride, and his national club tours have helped his client/artists reach hundreds of thousands of music fans and take their career to all new heights.
Beyond being a major player in the evolution of a variety of music genres, Granda has developed a number of innovative tools and mediums to help independent artists reach the mainstream market in a rapidly more efficient way. Instead of traditionally sending out demos of singles to individual DJs and booking agents, Granda created the Digital Promo Distribution Network, a service that provides instant music, remixes, and video to the Top Club DJs all over the world. Last year, he also created the Latin Music Club Report, which is the only industry trade that focuses on DJs’, record pools and industry executives that support club music and contains the only Latin Music Club Charts.
As you can see, Granda has very innovative and independent ideas on how to fully market his artists in both the Latino and Anglo mainstream markets through a variety of marketing mediums. His marketing, promotion savvy, and independent mentality have made him one of the most sought out industry executive by labels, managers, and artists. Forty years later, his motto “Independent in a MAJOR way” has never rung more true.
However, even with all of his success and accomplishments, Granda is also a very humble person, noting that all of his success would be for nothing if it were not for his fantastic team.
“I’m happy to be involved with such an incredible visionary, talented, hard working, and dedicated team in every aspect of everything that I do,” explains Granda. “ You can be a great quarterback, but you can’t win without the right team.”

Hotspots Magazine caught up with him to find out what makes him tick and to see what we should expect next from this talent.
When did you decide to become a DJ?
When I was 15, while attending art college for a Visual Arts Degree, I started to experiment with music and DJing. I was always intrigued by the dichotomy of music and visual arts and how they can go hand in hand. In fact, some of my first gigs were experimental art exhibits and installations providing a soundtrack for whole shows. Eventually I thought this was an awesome way of having fun, expressing myself and also making a bit of extra money. By 17 I had a full-fledged mobile DJ company doing all sorts of events for every type of client imaginable, and by 19 I had several residencies ranging from Goth nights to several break beats/house underground parties. It’s been an uphill trajectory ever since. I’m constantly evolving and growing.
What DJs do you like?
I know this is a cliché answer but, truth is, there are way too many to answer. I enjoy such a wide range of artists and DJ from all over the world. Again, good music is good music. There are so many avenues to discover new music nowadays; I literally find new favorites on a daily rate.
Who are your influences?
I would say recording artists such as Daft Punk, Bjork, Orbital, The Blue Man Group and Underworld really influenced how I present myself when I’m performing. They just do their own thing and really do more performance art, something that has always appealed to me. When it comes to my productions, I have to say that a very wide range of music influences who I am and where I draw my inspiration.
How would you describe your style?
In a word: eclectic. Generally, I play good music. I use nostalgia as a drug, a good tune you can sing along to always works. But, I play a range of house, classic sounds, filtered disco, electro, and high-energy music in a variety of styles. My two year residency at Living Room Nightclub has allowed me to dive deep into the mash-up/performance VJ culture, really culminating all the mediums I have worked with in the past. I have now launched a whole new skill set in my repertoire which allows me to combine almost any piece of music and visual archive into a high-energy audio/visual party collage. Come see me at Living Room!
What makes you different from other DJs?
I want to say that there are a lot of DJs that share my same sensibility and theory that my job and skill as a DJ and perfection in my craft come from playing for the crowds. I would say that I shy away from a growing trend in DJs that do it for ego or being the center of attention. Nothing gets me off more than moving a crowd and making a connection with my audience. That’s the high I live for and why I am so passionate about DJing. I give the people what they want, while satisfying my own artistic expression in breaking new music seamlessly.
What is something about you that would surprise your fans?
A lot of people would find it very surprising to know that I’m blind in one eye and half deaf in one ear. I was born this way. Although I am medically handicapped, I’ve never considered myself so. In fact, whenever my handicap has gotten in the way I just try harder. This year, thanks to the new advances in 3D technology, I was able to see 3D for the first time, Thank god I went with IMAX and Avatar – talk about epic!
What was your craziest DJ story?
I have so many, but we’ll just keep those to ourselves! Really I can write a book! But I’d have to say there were a few weekends were I had eight gigs in one weekend, and six in another! That was crazy to say the least! But I love a challenge!
What was your favorite party to spin at?
Besides my current residency (shameless plug) at the fabulous groundbreaking Liquid Fridays at Living Room in Fort Lauderdale, truth is wherever there is a willing and good crowd of people happy and ready to dance – I’m there!
Where can people come see you spin?
I spin both Fridays for Liquid Fridays and Sho Saturdays at Living Room Nightclub, Wednesdays at Twist with a very special launch in October of a whole new concept in audio/visual/audience interaction (can’t wait to let the cat out of the bag on that one). I also have tons of special events lined up for October and November including a cancer benefit and some launch parties. Next year is already looking amazing as I have been confirmed for special events during NYC Gay Pride, WMC, Miami Beach Gay Pride and several guest spots throughout the U.S. including L.A., Georgia, New York and several spots in Florida.
